As Aristotle said that 95 % of the result is due to the habits you practice every day.
As Brian Tracy noted ‘good daily habits are hard to form but easy to live with. Bad habits are easy to form but hard to leave with’.
All habits are learned, the good ones and the bad ones. They can also be unlearned – you replace your bad habits gradually with the good ones, but that can only be done by practice and repetition.
The first thing you do, when you get up in the morning – is habit.
Is it a cup of coffee or glass of juice? Or maybe practice of gratitude? You really need to think carefully about what habits are good for you.
One of the top daily habits that all successful people do is daily goal setting.
Get in to the habit of setting your goals for the day ahead. Before you go to sleep, make a list of all the goals you want to accomplish the next day. Keep a journal and write down your goals. Throughout the day think about your goals – when you are driving around, or talking to other people. The thing is – you become what you think about most of the time and you achieve what you think about most of the time. All successful people and all wealthy people think about their goals most of the time.
The second habit is to be results oriented.
Results oriented people always think about the most important things they can do to achieve the most important results. Successful people always make a list of the things they need to do and then they set priorities from the list. One of the ways you can become results oriented, when you set your goals for the day, have a look at the list and think – ‘if I were to go away for a month, what is the one thing on this list that I would do, to get the most results?’ When you chose, put a star next to this activity, underline or highlight (this always works the best for me as I love to see my diary in all the different colours, makes me motivated) – whichever works best for you, and start working on this task immediately. Discipline yourself so you would work only on this one thing, until it’s complete. This simple technique has worked for years and will absolutely work for you! Choose the most important thing on your list, start working on it and do not stop until the task is complete.
Another habit that you should make a part of your routine is to become people oriented.
Everything that you achieve in life will be with the help, support, cooperation and advice from other people. You should ask yourself – what is it that people want? What can I give them? How can I help them, so they can help me back when I need it? The best sales men are the ones who think about their customers all the time. They know exactly who their customers are, what do they need or want and, the most important, how they can help their customers the most and how they can do it right now.
Another habit that you should implement is to stay healthy.
Don’t forget to think about your health and wellbeing. Think about what kind of food you put in your body. Is it natural and truly nourishing your body or is it packaged and packed with sugar? Think about incorporating exercise in your routine; make sure you get enough rest and sleep. To be successful in anything you do, you need a lot of energy. To have a lot of energy you need to eat good, nourishing food, get a lot of rest and exercise regularly.
The final habit is the one of self discipline.
This habit is a foundation habit, which makes everything else possible. As Brian Tracy said the best definition of self discipline is ‘the ability to make yourself do, what you should do, when you should do, whether you feel like it or not’. Anyone can do it, if they feel like it. It is when you don’t feel like it, but you do it anyway, that’s when you develop self discipline and make everything else possible.
Try and incorporate these 5 daily habits into your daily life and you will see a tremendous difference!
I would love to hear all about your progress, so let me know how you get on!
